Phone Scam.

Beware, do not call back a missed call from the number 6813713461797. Because if you do, you will be charged with $100 on your next phone bill.

Start of the Fasting month.

Today marks the day where all Muslimins and Muslimats are going to fast for one whole month to commemorate the month of Ramadhan(the ninth month of the Islamic calendar). The significance of this month is that the Revelation of the Qur'an to Prophet Muhammad began, also it is believed that the Gates of Heaven would open in this month while the Gates of Hell is closed.

The main point of fasting on this month is because if we do so, we'd figuritively burn away our sins. And so for one whole month, we will not drink, eat or smoke from dawn to dusk. And refrain from sexual acts, anger, violence, envy, greed(i call this the "Dark Side"). And practice patience, and do good deeds such as helping the needy.

So to all my friends that's fasting, gambatte! And for the rest, don't tempt me, or you'll go to Hell!

Comics.

Old man, if you ever see this post, i'd like you to know you made my day today! The person sitting right across to me in the MRT is an old man reading a comic. He read it so passionately, just like how any teenager would when they finally get that comic they've been waiting a month for. Hahaha.

Ok so this is the third week of my new life at Stansfield. So far it's been a decent experience, made a few friends, and fighting against sleepiness in econs lecture with all my might.......

The teachers, well they're alright, i'll be taught by 1 irishman and 4 indian teachers. The irish teacher, Adrian, was damn funny. When explaining something in comparative term, he mentioned abalone. But then after that he asked us, "By the way, what's an abalone? I see it in the stall in front of my flat, but i don't know what it is." When someone explained to him what abalone is, he said "Are you suppose to eat it? Is it edible?". Hahaha, welcome to Singapore Mr.Mongan!

The subjects, well they're ok, lots of theories and readings to be done. And after 3 years of writing up stuff with a keyboard, now i've got to do everything with pen and paper again hahahaha. 1000 words/25 marks no less. Sheesh.

Till next time peeps!

Chapter 8 - Righteous

Saw the latest episode of House, M.D (love this show) on AXN. And i want to share it to all of you. The patient in this episode is a humanitarian doctor that tries to help TBC victims across Africa. So after many years treating TBC, he himself got infected with TBC. In summary, while being treated by House, he refused to receive treatment. His reason was because the poor people at africa deserves the medicines that he's given as much as he is and yet they're not getting it.

Is his actions righteous, or is it stupid? For me it's stupid. It's the same like in DotA games. Do you be a hero, go straight to the fray and fight 5 heroes at once? Of course you won't, unless you're 6 levels above all of them and have uber items already of course. Yes i do realize that i could have used a better example, but i couldn't resist using dota as a comparison.

Yes what the humanitarian doctor is doing is selfless and we all should learn from him and do the same. However, there are levels in being righteous, and if you overdo it and actually hurt yourself in the process, it's stupid.

You do what you can do in helping people. But, if what you do is not enough to achieve what you want, what else can you do if you have done your best? You can't actually believe that you individually can save everybody in this world.

Furthermore, what he's doing here is actually another side of taking things for granted. People normally take things for granted when they abuse the things they have without consideration when people out there do not have the same luxuries available to them. But what the humanitarian doctor is doing here is not using the things that is available to him (he can afford it too).

Yes it's true that we have to realise also that there are a lot more unfortunate people out there compared to us. And we have to remember not to take things for granted. But overdoing things can actually have more of a negative impact than positive.

On a sidenote, my post time interval is getting longer not because i did'nt type anything, but because whenever i'm blogging some things always came up(like dota games, ooops). Also, the pictures at my dad's phone, they're GONE. Damn sad la, dad bought a new phone before giving me the chance to upload it first. Damn pissed at him for that. But what can you do? The buggers at the phone shop deleted the pics already. Sigh. Such a waste, till next time peeps.

Hometown Trip!

I finally have the mood to update my blog and talk about my trip back to Medan.

I took so so so so so many pics. But i had a hard time posting pictures here in blogger. So i used photobucket instead. Make sure you check out my album ok peeps? There are some interesting pictures there. The downside of this though is that you have to login to photobucket to see it. So Sorry! Register here, if you are not a member of photobucket yet.

And these pictures are just from the digicam. There are more stored in my dad's phone. Why use his phone when you have a digicam you say? Well with my unbelievable luck, the battery ran out halfway through the celebration at my uncle's house. So i had to take the event at the Danau Toba Hotel using my dad's phonecam. The charger was left at S'pore too. We mistakenly thought that the digicam could hold on for that long. I'll post the pics from my father's phonecam soon.

Anyway i had lots of fun down there. Listened to someone's advice (you know who you are) and i really went and demand to do fun things this time! As in not doing the usual stuffs. I and the twins went out together, by ourselves, without aunts/parents/uncles or whatever other word you want to call the people a generation above us. And spending time with the twins alone like that definitely brought about memories. And i felt nostalgia creeping in too.

Anyway, went to eat durians with them, i ate three by myself zomg. Then we went to go-kart. There's another new experience! I'm still hopeless at driving though. I took one lap longer to finish 6 laps. That's how atrocious i was. Same goes whenever i play racing games too. Then we just talked, while reading manga. And it felt nice, to have a sibling like figure like that, even for just a week.

And the cats, my clothes are all full of fur. But i don't care! hahahahahaha. I can't help it! Bello, the mom, actually eats cheese. Whenever there's cheese around she'll be there. You can't trick her too! She knows what's cheese and what's not. Astonishing! And when no one gave her any cheese, she'll get up to a chair and put her paws on our hand. Who could resist giving her that cheese after that!

More pics next time! Good day all! It's good to be back at Singapore but i'll definitely miss my family and all. Especially the twins.

Chapter 7 - Realization.

In this world, there are many different job fields. Technicians, engineers, doctors, designers, scientists, cleaners, businessmen, to name a few. And of course with different fields, there will be different jobs that needs to be done, with different people specializing in it. The general public will go to specialists to consult in a field that they're not specialising in. For example, if you're an scientist and are having ankle problems, you'll of course go to a reflexology. Right?

The thing that i'm trying to bring across this time is this, if you go to these specialists to consult with them on things but you don't do or listen to the things that they advise you to do, then what's the point? Like say the reflexology tells you that you need to apply a particular balm to your ankle 3 times a day, and you replied that no it's ok i don't really want to buy the balm and that the problem will recede after awhile. "Well then what the f*uck are you doing here, if you think you know what's good for you or not." That's what's probably in the mind of the reflexologist. He's right too.

We need to realize that these people that we are consulting in are specialists in their fields. And that if you're not going to trust their views when you're asking for it and you're still going to do it your way anyway, then it's like you giving free money to them. Might as well give your credit card to them and tell them your PIN numbers and everything. Yes it's a matter of credibility, and yes you can't really trust everything that everyone says, it's your job to filter these. But it doesn't make sense when you pay someone to give a view in a field that you're not specializing in and yet you still not do what they adviced you to. Yes it's true that they might not be right, but you acting smart when you know even less are even worse.

Anyway a shoutout to all of you from me at Medan!

Painting Gallery

I have a few pictures of paintings to show. There was a galleria at our Hotel lounge during our trip to Jakarta. Unfortunately i forgot the painter's name. If you happen to visit my blog Mr.Painter, please tell me your name. I doubt it, but i can never know.

My personal favourite is the first one, might not be as good as the other paintings in a visual sense. But, it's theme caught my attention. It was "Not yet time." In case you didn't notice it, it's a painting of a girl going somewhere wearing an oversized party dress and oversized shoes. She was also fully "beautified". Styled hair, lipstick, powder, the whole nine yards. Made me realize that there are times for everything and that not anything is for everytime.

There are a few more of these painting, i'm afraid of uploading more, just in case blogger couldn't take them all. If you guys want to see them, message me and i'll send it to you.

Nerdy, Geeky or Dorky?

Found this at Yahoo! today, and i just couldn't resist but to show it to those that have not seen it.

And i quote:

"Official definitions for nerd, geek, and dork each use the words "inept" and "foolish." Nerds have the added distinction of being "unattractive." Ouch. While it's hard to argue with the dictionary, we sought out definitions from the Internet at large.
According to Whatis.com, nerds are people of above-average intelligence who place little importance on their appearance. Nerds are often aware of their status, but they don't mind. In fact, many take pride in the putdown, as it means they're smart and not wrapped up in superficial worries.
Geek is a more specific term. Back in the day, geeks worked at carnivals, and (according to the dictionary) "bit the heads off live chickens." Thankfully, the term now has a different connotation. Like nerds, geeks are smart, but they tend to focus more on technology. As Urban Dictionary explains, these are the people you make fun of in high school and later work for as an adult.
Being called a "dork" is the biggest insult of the three. There's no way you can spin it into something positive. After all, even the dictionary writes that dorks are "stupid" people. And to make matters worse, dorks assume they're cool. Oh, and they smell, too.
So, to sum things up, if someone calls you a geek or a nerd, thank them. If someone calls you a dork, consider going back to school and investing in some new deodorant."

LOL. Cool eh?

Pictures coming up! Found out that our camera's accessorries are actually packed in our store room already. So after much digging i'll finally post them here! Hooray!
